With three active and loud kids running, on top of an incredible barking dog, it is amazing that I get anything done. My compulsion to create is fueled by that chaos. Not only does my family inspire me to be true to myself, they drive me to create. In part so that they don’t drive me crazy! Through writing, teaching, and designing I aim to inspire you as well.
One of those kids that burnt out all the flashlight batteries to read under the covers, I have a life-long love of words. Writing stories as a kid, moving across the country to go to journalism school, and finally finding my home when words collided with fabric. And oh, the fabric! Bits of woven beauty inspiring us to cut it up only to sew it back together again. I started sewing with instruction from my Mom as a little girl, continued through Home Ec (when it still existed in schools), and am going strong after 24 years of quilting.
Life is too short not to play with fabric. To play, period. Part instigator, part coach I love to get you exploring technique, ideas, colour and more as you dive into your stash. No piece is too small or too loud, fabric is meant to be used. Quilting, as is life, is about the process - the journey - not the product. Enjoy all of it knowing that each time you get your butt in the seat and sew you are giving a gift to yourself.
